South Dakotans For Health Care Solutions
Over the next week, we are organizing drop-by visits to Senator Tim Johnson’s South Dakota offices to say THANK YOU! During the extensive debate over health care reform in Congress, Tim has been a solid supporter of our common principles of quality, affordability, and shared responsibility. Tim stood strong against attacks from the insurance industry that made billions, too often at the expense of people’s life and health. Senator Johnson is a true leader who understands how important health care and insurance reform is to America.
There is no perfect policy solution, and the path to reform is political, and therefore full of combat and compromise. We won’t all agree about the details, and critical issues will have to be monitored and revised. But when the debate is over and President Obama signs the bill, we will have taken giant steps:
~ Every American will have access to affordable health insurance that doesn’t discriminate based on pre-existing conditions or gender.
~ Americans will no longer go bankrupt from out-of-pockets costs and payment caps.
~ Employers and individuals will have shared responsibility for fair financing.
~ Insurance companies will finally face true regulation and competition.
This is an historic achievement, which has taken decades to accomplish.
Be proud of your role in that achievement. Take a few minutes to stop at one of Tim’s offices and leave a message with his hard-working staff to say thank you and keep up the good work! Thank you for your hard work these last months! Jane
