Insurers Spin Court Decision on Health Insurance Mandate

Wendell PotterWhen I testified before Congress last year, I told lawmakers that if they passed a health care reform bill with an individual mandate but no public option, they might as well call their bill the "Health Insurance Profit Protection and Enhancement Act." Well, of course, that is exactly what Congress did, but they didn't change the name of the new law as I suggested.

Thanks for trying. Without a Public Option there is nothing to force prices down. The mandates in the bill w/o a public option just force insurers to do the right thing but places no cost targets on them which could be creted by a non-profit like the public option. Americans will eventually need this option once the insurance companies and helath care industry have raised prices so high that no companies or individuals will be able to offer or afford health care. What this country needs is more profit at all costs political (Republican) parties and greed. Oh wait, we already have that!
