The White House summit has started. Follow it live here:
The republicans are complaining about the presidents health care bill, but not offering suggestion, only condemnation. The democrats are asking for their input on how to make it better, let's work together on this, but rep. just keep repeating the speeches they have prepared. This was to be a meeting of the minds to adjust any issues that can be made better. It looks to me like the rep. have thier mind made up, they want what they want and thier is no compromise. Rep. refused to offer any fixes, they just wanted to shoot down the current bill. If they truly wanted to help, why didn't they come prepared to do so? Did anyone hear any suggestions from them? Or did they just want what they wanted, either a clean sheet of paper or nothing.I see the dem. asking, explaining, suggesting, practically begging the rep. to offer help and compromise to better ideas, that is so obviously falling on deaf ears. Rep. have no intention on being a help, they want to do thier own thing, start over. They fail to realize thier place in our government, they are Senators, not the president of the united states. They are undermining our president and his efforts to help our people to have proper medical care within a reasonable price. If the government does not step in and mandate some sort of control to the insurance companies, this will never end. Our president does not want to take over control of the insurance companies, or the people of the united states, he wants to set regulations preventing insurance companies, doctors, hospitals, testing, care in general, so that we are not taken advantage of any longer. Let's face it, if it's not law, we will still sit and spin in the same muck. If they totally start from scratch, God only knows how long it would be until reform comes to an already suffering country. If we can't get past this in a whole year, when will our government have time to take care of other issues like, jobs, clean air, earths preservation, etc. My vote is, take what is written, already to go, make it better if you can, offer suggestion, stop spinning your tires, get over it and be a help, not a hinder. It seems like the republicans have been out to destroy, they obviously do not like our president, they do not like the fact that he is a democrat, they decided from day one to say no to everything. Our president has been very gracious in making opportunities for the rep. to tear down thier wall and become a part of the soulution and stop being the bratty problem. They have a lot of issues and just need some tissues. Rep. only complain, while the dem. offer compromise. Again, it's falling on deaf ears, they do not want to be a part of the team, they want to run it. The President and most dem. talked about the good points from the speeches of the rep. and wanted to vote on making the changes, the rep. were still stuck on the speeches they had prepared and wouldn't even consider moving on. I vote for moving on, we can't wait forever, we can't afford to keep the reps in pacifiers, the cost is becoming to great, it has become part of our deficit. The american people voted our senators, and congress into office to help, not become the problem. They cannot win, President Obama is for the american people, not for providing years worth of debates to a never ending brick wall. You cannot run a country where your team does not work together. You can agree to disagree, but compromise for the greater good of the people, not personal issues. Every rep. basically repeated the same thing over and over. It's obvious they do not want to be a positive help to the american people. I'm so glad that this summit was televised, it really showed me what is really going on. Our president is asking for thier help and they refuse to do so, unless it is on their terms. I'm very proud of our president and his patience with the reps. acting like children who want what they want or else. The or else is, they wont get to help like they should with revisions, revisions that are welcomed by our president and the democratic side of this issue. Shouldn't everyone have thier own opinion, not like the same speech over and over from the rep. side. We would hope that they would want to work together. The reps. only spoke of problems, with no soulution offered other than starting over. Talk about discrimination, the reps. have decided that they will counter anything that is from the desk of the president. Whatever their reason for this discrimination, it is obvious to this american they need to take a long look in the mirror. Or better yet, watch the coverage of todays summit. Maybe they could see the complete disreguard for the bill, to the point of causing more suffering for us instead of putting their personal views aside and offering new ways to address the issues they have. If republicans really want to show the american people that they are not out to down everything the president does, then become a part of the team, write up your suggestions and the reasons for it, put it on the presidents desk. It's not the president who isn't willing to compromise, reality is waiting for those who truely see what is going on here. Maybe if they had to do without health insurance they might understand a fraction of what we are going through. One spoke of the people having the same insurance that they have, that would be great, but they will never know what we go through, they will be taken care of for life, most of us aren't that lucky. Do your job, help our government do it's job and stop dragging your feet, we can't wait, we need something now. We trust our government to take care of our nation, we are it's children. I don't think that any one of them would make thier own children go through this suffering for one minute. We are real people with real feelings, not numbers. They couldn't last a week in our lives, doing without the basic essentials for life, for living, for survival. Some of us out here are barely surviving, in fact a whole lot of us these days. Just do something, get it started for us, make any changes that need to be addressed later on. We can't wait, get on with it, open your hearts and your minds, compromise and help us now! Give peace a chance, stop the war on our president, you will not win, he is not a puppet, he is a strong force to recon with and we've got his back! I thank our President for being who and what he is, keep up the good work, I know you have our best interests at heart.
