Reconciliation back on the table? - Congress Matters
There's an undercurrent of buzz that says reconciliation is back on the table for the health insurance reform bill, presumably as a result of Joe Lieberman's (I-CT) insistence that he'll make trouble for it. As most of you recall, because debate on reconciliation bills are time-limited by statute, it's not subject to the filibuster. It is, however, subject to its own strict set of rules about what is and isn't eligible for consideration under the process, and it's by no means certain that all of the important elements of the bill that it looked like the Senate was getting ready to move will survive that process.
