Same threat, different day - Blue Cross threatens to raise rates

On the heels of the insurance company front-group AHIP's threat to America, Blue Cross Blue Shield's front group followed today with the same threat:
The insurance lobby is out today with another report critical of health reform efforts – this time from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
Cutting to the chase, the report finds that without a strong individual mandate to buy insurance, premiums five years after reform would go up by $1,500 a year for single coverage and $3,300 for family coverage.
Getting beyond the problems with these reports, namely their lack of facts, this is another bald-faced threat. Here's how that last paragraph should read:
Cutting to the chase, the report finds that without reform the insurance industry likes, they will raise your rates by thousands of dollars as punishment.
They're extortionists, and they're threatening you. "Do what we want, America," they say, "Otherwise, we'll give you even more medical bankruptcies!"
All the more reason we must have a public health insurance option. If Americans don't want to give their hard-earned money to these extortionists, they shouldn't have to.
