Slowing down and killing health care is about politics, not policy

To underscore the point President Obama made this weekend, Sam Stein at the Huffington Post has been given a copy of a internal RNC strategy memo on health care reform. Their strategy? Slow it down and kill it in any way possible. In fact, their exact words are:
"The Republican National Committee will engage in every activity we can to slow down this mad rush while promoting sensible alternatives that address health care costs and preserve quality."
Now, remember, there is no Republican plan for health care, not to mention one that addresses either health care costs or quality. So their line about proposing a sensible alternative is pure fiction. Their opposition to health care reform has nothing to do with saving you or your family money, helping small businesses being crushed by health care costs, or stopping rising premiums from wrecking our economy. Instead, the strategy here is to make sure health care is President Obama's "Waterloo," so Republicans can win back at least a shred of the power in Congress they squandered passing President Bush's policies that destroyed our economy in the first place.
And anybody on either side of the aisle who talks about slowing down or killing health reform (and make no mistake, slowing down reform is killing it), is playing into Republican hands.
Killing progressive healthcare reform is killing us, and our children and our futures. We need health care to compete in the world and all the other wealthy industrial countries who already have it.
If you beleive that gov. healthcare is the way to go you are sadly mistaken. The other countries that have it that I have visited and have family is some of those countries.there healthcare does not come close to the quality of ours.My cousin in London came to america to have all of her prenatle and child deliveries. Because she could not be seen before her due date.they have people dieing in those countries waiting on treatment.Ask Hillary Clinton why her friend came to America to have breast cancer treatmen when she has FREE GOVERNMENT HEALTHCARE in Canada.IS our system perfect ? No.But it is by far the best system in the world. It is truely sad that some people think that the answer to our problems in america IS our elected officials. They are 90% of the problems. You can take there help and do what they say is best for you . Iwill take care of myself and my family.because the government does not have a clue what they are doin. The path that our elected officials are takeing us on is not AMERICA I dont know what it is but im not going down that path. It breaks my heart to see what they have done and continue to do to OUR COUNTRY.
Best system in the world? Yeah, that's the end of this conversation…
Why do we elect a government that we don't trust to take care of America. That is the dumbest thing. People need health care and this health care plan in not free government health care, it is going to cost us money. Right now I have to pay more than 500 a month to insure my family through my job and then the co-pays and the 20% that is not covered, oh and the things that are not covered all together. Our health care system is awful, people keep saying how you go to other countries and die waiting for health care. How many people die here getting health care and why is preventative health care not incouraged here in America? We need a government that we can trust and we definitly need a better, less greedy, health care system.
