Public Overwhelmingly Supports Public Health Insurance Plan

With the policy wars ramping up in earnest, one thing to watch for will be efforts by both sides of the fights to present internal polling that, they say, proves that the public is on their side.

Celinda Lake’s Dem polling outfit, Lake Research, just conducted a new poll of 800 likely voters that, according to the firm, finds that the public strongly supports having the choice of a public health insurance plan and strongly rejects the insurance industry’s most cutting attacks on the idea.

Health Insurance and Health Care are not synonymous. Health Care is when my doctor treats me. Insurance is what makes it cost so much. Most developed countries have national health care provided, without insurance companies taking a big cut. Prices will continue to skyrocket as long as insurance continue to call the shots. They are, after all, making billions in profits while ordinary Americans suffer. The only real solution is National Health Care, with insurance available to anyone who chooses that option, much the way we have public schools available to all, and private school available to anyone who chooses to spend the extra money.
