We're Asking Congress Which Side They're On

Posted on August 5th, 2008 by Jason Rosenbaum in Take Action!

Health Care for America Now is gearing up for our first big action: Asking members of Congress which side they are on.

In a few days, we'll be coming out with an online tool that will allow you to enter in your information on the web and be connected by phone to your members of Congress automatically. We'll be asking that folks like you use this tool to contact your members of Congress.

What we're asking Congress is simple: Are you with us for a guarantee of affordable, quality health care for all? Or are you on the side of the insurance companies, fighting to preserve our broken system?

Our goal is to make tens of thousands of calls to every member of Congress. We're going to need your help to do it.

It often seems that ordinary Americans have no influence on what happens in Washington. Between partisan gridlock, politicians in bed with big business, and media elite focused on questions of "character" over getting things done, it can feel impossible to make your elected officials list. Rest assured, in this effort, you will be heard.

Our calling campaign is part of a larger strategy to make sure Congress here's our (your) message. We've already sent every member of Congress a formal letter explaining what Health Care for America Now is about and asking them to sign on. Over the next few weeks, members will be getting in-person visits from Health Care for America Now supporters in their home states. And, crucially, every member of Congress will be flooded with phone calls asking them which side they are on.

Separately, these efforts might not make an impact, but together, the message will be unmistakable.

We need your help. Sign up for our email list so you'll be the first to know when our calling tool is released. Tell your friends, co-workers, and family members about Health Care for America Now and ask them to sign up, too. Our strength comes from our numbers.

Please help us make a difference.

When you call, please be sure to ask the members to support HR 676, which is John Conyers national health insurance bill!
